What Ever Happened to Winter (Part II)
Wow, another Spring season without the harsh remnants of a stormy winter. With the absence of any significant snowfall this past Winter, we have once again enjoyed a dramatic decrease of snow mold, plow damage and salt damage. These are so typical in a New England spring setting, but again NOT this spring.
However, there are some items that we are monitoring closely this season, following such a rare, snowless winter. One in particular is that when snow falls and covers the lawn for a prolonged period of time, it can have a positive effect on the spring disbursement of nutrients in the soil. Most nutrients are stored in plants and thrive in the spring when turf is coming out of dormancy. But with the lack of snow, some lawns could experience a less than normal presence of nutrients due to a shorter than normal dormancy. This can lead to a slower response to spring fertilization, but don’t worry, your lawn will catch up quickly.
I guess we should be pleased that we didn’t have to break our backs shoveling every other week this past winter. But what pleases us the most is to visit and care for your lawn needs throughout the 2024 season.

Mosquito Control and Tick Control
Our Mosquito Control and Tick Control Programs are two different programs (Mosquito Liquid and Tick Granular) and designed to effectively control BOTH pest problems. Fall Aeration and Overseeding
This service starts at the end of August and runs through the entire Fall season. The process involves the mechanical extraction of small cores from the topsoil throughout your lawn. The cores are approximately a half inch in diameter and 1 to 3 inches in depth. Immediately after the core aeration is complete, a heavy application of seed is applied throughout the topsoil and into the freshly exposed cores. The seed quickly settles in the topsoil and inside the cores to create the perfect contact area of seed to soil which provides for healthy germination. Along with a thorough mix of seed throughout the lawn, this will thicken and improve the overall texture of the existing lawn area as well. Core Aeration will also enhance irrigation to the root zone and control or minimize most disease activity.
