It’s Fall…Time for that Recovery Period !!!
The Summer 2024 Season we experienced far less rainfall than last season, which is great for enjoying the perfect sunny days instead of the…What was it 20 weeks of rain last year in a row! What does all this sun mean for Massachusetts and Rhode Island lawns? If you have full lawn irrigation, chances are your lawn with proper care and watering stayed thick and lush. If you do not have irrigation, then all this summer heat may have caused your lawn to brown or it could have gone fully dormant. It depends on how the yard is configured, whether it be sloped, shaded or had lots of traffic on it from playing, parties or pets it can even look very compacted and bare in areas. If custom fertilizers and proper grub and weed control were not used based on your specific lawn it is definitely in need of deep fertilization and preventative weed care right NOW to set it up for a beautiful spring bloom. The 2024 Fall Fertilizer Application being applied by Lawn-Pro Lawncare will address any residual weed activity, as well as boost your lawns nitrogen level. In addition to more nitrogen we also have added 5% iron to our fertilizer. Iron is considered a viable, organic supplement to our fertilizer application. The addition of iron is used to correct soil deficiencies and will contribute to a healthier root growth and vibrant, greening of your lawn. These steps will further support a full lawn recovery.

Lime Applications Being Applied
Along with your regularly scheduled Fall and Winterizer fertilization applications, we are also applying your Lime Application during the Fall season. This is the best time of the year to lime your lawn. Lime will encourage effective turf growth and recovery by allowing your lawn to better respond to the Fall and upcoming Spring fertilization applications.
Please keep in mind that lime is applied as tiny gray and brown pellets, and may not always be easily visible in your lawn. If you wish to check your application, a good way is to examine edges of walkways or driveways where some stray pellets may have avoided our clean-up process of the blowing off of these areas.
Flea and Tick Control
The second of three annual Flea and Tick Control Applications has already been applied. However, flea and ticks will continue to deposit eggs throughout the Fall season. The third and final application is scheduled to begin this Fall which allows for extended control through the winter months. The cold weather does not deter flea and tick reproduction. The third application will ensure a full cycle of control all season long that will carry you through the early portions of the following Spring season until your first Flea and Tick Control Application of the new year.

Core Aeration and Overseeding
Core Aeration and Overseeding is also scheduled to begin soon, unfortunately our schedule is already filled. We will be taking appointments for Fall, 2025.
Core Aeration and Overseeding is a mechanical process that extracts small cores from the topsoil approximately a half-inch in diameter and 1-3 inches in depth. Core Aeration alone will enhance turf growth, increase irrigation to the root zone and control and minimize disease activity. The cores left behind will dry and slowly disappear after several mowings.
With the overseeding added, this enables thin areas and areas that may have experienced some summer stress, to totally fill in with newly seeded turf.
